My Open Library
Cork City Libraries popular My Open Library Service is available in Glanmire Library, Blackpool Library, Douglas Library and Bishopstown Library.
My Open Library is a service where public libraries offer extended open hours, using a mix of staffed and unstaffed self-service hours.
During unstaffed hours, members who are registered My Open Library members can access the library from 8.00 am to 10.00 pm every day, including weekends.
If you are interested in becoming a My Open Library patron you will need to attend an induction session at the library at which you plan to use this service. To find out more about the service contact Bishopstown, Blackpool, Douglas or Glanmire Library.

Draft City Libraries Bye Laws 2026
Cork City Council propose to make new City Libraries Bye Laws to govern the use of library services. We have therefore published a draft set of new bye laws which are available to view. A copy of these can be inspected for two months from Monday 15th December 2025 at any Cork City Libraries branch or online at Library Byelaws For Public Consultation. A copy can also be obtained by emailing city_library@corkcity.ie. We will consider any submissions made. Submissions can be made until 15th February 2026 by email to city_library@corkcity.ie or by post to David O’Brien, City Librarian, The City Library, 57-61 Grand Parade, Cork City T12 NT99
