Loudest Whisper

Text provided by Brian and Paud O'Reilly of Loudest Whisper

Loudest Whisper is one of Ireland’s longest established creative bands, with its unique blend of Folk/Rock and Blues.

Formed in 1968 by the O’Reilly brothers, the band celebrated its fortieth birthday in 2008.

The Loudest Whisper sound has been fermenting since the early seventies, when Brian O'Reilly wrote his Celtic musical 'The Children of Lir', which enjoyed a very popular debut at the Fermoy Youth Centre back in 1973. Because of its success, Polydor Records asked the band to record an album that was subsequently released in 1975.

Loudest Whisper continued its legacy throughout their many recordings and are still enchanting audiences at live gigs with their distinctive blend of Folk, Rock and Blues.

To celebrate 40 years of Loudest Whisper, Sunbeam Records UK will be released a 6-CD box set of all early Loudest Whisper recordings for Christmas 2008. A new studio CD is also planned. The band staged a special concert version of  their hit musical `The Children of Lir' at the Village Arts Centre, Kilworth on 10 November 2008 and at the Cork School of Music on 15 November 2008. Sunbeam Records recently issued the original 1975 album on Vinyl and CD, having remastered it at Abbey Road. A book on the Loudest Whisper story is also due to be published by the end of 2008.
