Theatre, Music and the Performing Arts

In the performing arts – music, drama, dance – you should check out the Cork Opera House in Emmet Place, the Everyman Palace in MacCurtain Street, the Cork Arts Theatre and the Granary Theatre on the Mardyke. (Behind the 'Culture in Cork' tab on our website, theatregoers might be interested in browsing through digital images of actors, programmes, and other theatre memorabilia from two decades of theatre in Cork from 1972 until 1991.)

The Triskel Christchurch hosts jazz, classical and contemporary music.  The Firkin Crane is the city’s main resource for dance, and the Cork Community Art Link provides opportunities for citizens to participate in street theatre, public art, as well as workshops in drama and prop making, among other events.

The city's musical life is nourished by University College Cork, School of Music and Drama and the CIT Cork School of Music both of them important national centres of learning and research.
