Housebound Service Books, audio books on CD and tape, videos & DVDs are delivered to those who, because of mobility problems or poor health, find it difficult to visit the library.  Visits are done on a regular basis by a member of staff.  There is no charge for this service.  If you wish to avail of this service, please contact Sinead at 4924932. http://www.corkcitylibraries.ie/servicesandprogrammes/houseboundservices/

Aids for the mobility impaired

We offer the use of a transit wheelchair as a convenience to any of our library users who has difficulty getting around. If you would like to use the chair please contact a member of staff. You will need a friend or companion to help you use the chair.

Audio Visual Assistance

In addition to our comprehensive book stock for adults and children, we stock non-book material.

Many of the well known authors are available on CD in the form of "Talking Books, " where the text of the book is read back to you and liste.Sound ned to on audio tracks. A limited collection of books on cassette tape are also available available. These are available to adults and children. 

We also stock a range of language-learning tapes and CDs, which are always in popular demand.  

Our collection of DVDs for adults is steadily growing.  We hold a wide range of subject areas in our video collection for adults. 

Adults and children may borrow up to 10 items as members of the library. (An item can be a book, a sound cassette, CD, video, or DVD)

Large-Print Books

Large-print books, both fiction and non fiction, are stocked here. They popular and are very useful for readers with a visual impairment.

Children can also enjoy a selection of jigsaws and games, including a dolls house, to play within the library.

Other services include: 4 daily newspapers, some weekly papers, a selection of magazines, including Which?? as well as French and German periodicals. We also host a book swap bin, and a Photocopier for black and white and colour prints. An A4 flatbed scanner is linked to one of the public PCs.
