Meeting Room & Exhibition Spaces
Groups and individuals in Bishopstown and the western suburbs can apply to the library to book community and study rooms. Non-Book services
Audio book, DVD and CD material are available to borrow for adults and children. Many well known fiction authors are available on cassette and CD.
We stock a range of language-learning tapes and CDs, which are always in popular demand.  
Our collection of DVDs for adults is steadily growing and includes many classic films of yesteryear. 

Large-Print Books
Large-print books, both fiction and non fiction, are stocked and these are very popular and are very useful for readers with a visual impairment.

Sit and browse  
Our daily newspapers, weekly papers, a selection of magazines, we offer a comfortable array of areas to sit and read to your hearts content.
We offer photocopy and fax services and a fast public internet service. Printing and scanning facilities are available on our computers.

All fax charged at 30c per sheet 

Please note the photocopy service and the fax service are available on a self service basis only. All prints and successful fax transmissions are chargable and need to be paid for.  


Newspapers and Magazines

Bishopstown Library stocks a range of newspapers and magazines. A selection of them are listed below. We hold back issues of our newspapers for a period of three months. For older papers please contact the Reference Department of the Central Library


  • Irish Examiner, Irish Times, Irish Independent, The Star, The Gaurdian and Evening Echo are stocked daily
  • The Southern Star, Cork Independent and Sunday Independent are stocked weekly


  • Computer Active, Consumer Choice, Which? Focus, Mac user, Golf Monthly, House and Home

For our Younger Readers:

  • Disney Princess, Essential X-Men, Girl Talk, Match, Mizz, and Top of the Pops

Public Information Material:

  • We stock a range of public information leaflets and pamphlets as they are made available.
  • A range of planning and development documents are available for consultation
